Evening-length programs by Jessica Fogel and Dancers 1978 & 1979:
In 1977, I formed a non-profit dance company, Jessica Fogel and Dancers. The legal name was the Kim Dance Foundation, using part of my middle name. A law firm did the incorporation legal work pro bono, and my close friends Elyse Morgan and Suzanne Goldstein were board members. The company was active in NYC and in college residencies until I left New York City in 1983. Under the auspices of the company, I presented my works in several shared concerts, lecture demonstrations, and evening-length programs. An evening-length concert of my dances was produced by the Earl Hall Summer Programs in June 1978 at Columbia University. In January 1979, an evening of my works was produced by at the American Theater Laboratory under the auspices of Dance Theater Workshop, curated by David White and the DTW board. In November 1979, I was produced by the Riverside Dance Festival, directed by David K. Manion. Under the auspices of the CETA Artists Project, I presented lecture demonstrations and talks at such locations as the Little Red School House, Marymount Manhattan College, and the New Lincoln School. I also conducted residencies at St. Lawrence University and SUNY Potsdam. Programs and flyers from the evening-length performances and notes from a high school lecture demonstration are in the links below. Additional evening-length programs by the company are documented in the next section, the 1980s.
