Description: This solo was one of three dances I created while a graduate student at Teachers College, Columbia University. The solo captured a sense of an in-between time, when I was not grounded anywhere, not sure of my next steps—thus the title.
According to papers I wrote for my role as sound assistant for the concert, the solo utilized a slide projector, and a plate was broken. Other props included “street shoes, flashlight, and sheet.” My costume is listed as “royal blue leotard and tights, orange anklet, steel blue paneled blouse.” Lighting was described in a production chart as “slide projector beam, high contrast, some stage lights, flashlight, shadows, stark light.” Other notes I found suggest that this solo wove together phrases from several different dances, including Catches from a Strand; Departures; In Black and White; Shard/Enfield in Winter; Beast.
